The sand felt warm beneath your toes, but the real heat was closer. A slight turn of the head, that’s all – just enough to catch the curve of a smile as you brushed a strand of hair back from her face. The scent of salt and sunscreen shifted, nowing more of her. A shiver traced down the spine with every inhale. A subtle tightening around the eyes, returning your gaze. And when she tilted her head, just so, to catch the sunlight in her hair…well, that was all you needed.
