Submerged Silences in a Neon World
The surface is a jagged blade of neon and noise, but down here, the world softens into an emerald embrace. I am a creature of two realms—one made of steel and glass, the other of salt and silence. They call this pool an escape; I call it a ritual. Each bubble that escapes my lips is a prayer whispered to the city above, seeking to soothe the ache of being seen yet never known.
My skin feels like silk against the liquid weight, washing away the grime of human expectation. He stood on the edge just moments ago, his hands trembling as they reached for mine—a mortal trying to touch something divine. I let him feel my warmth before I slipped beneath the surface, leaving him with only the taste of salt and a lingering dream.
This is my healing. A turquoise baptism in an urban wasteland. Tomorrow, I will walk the streets again, my eyes reflecting the streetlights like twin moons, hiding the fact that my soul still breathes underwater.
